Sign 1: We Couldn't Explain Our Build Queue


One of our developers asked a simple question: “Why did my build wait 18 minutes when there were idle agents?”


Nobody had a good answer. We knew the builds were queued. We just didn’t know why they queued the way they did.

After living through these problems, the principles became clear:
